Detailed Schedule for use with Bob Jones K3 Thresholds for Threes Program

When we were initially experimenting with homeschooling our children, I remember being filled with excitement. That first year everything was a grand experiment for us. Our oldest son was 2-years-old and none of the major homeschool publishers offered curriculum for a child that age; so, I spent hours and hours every week coming up with activities for him and trying to fit those activities into specific themes. When we decided to continue homeschooling for a second year, I wasn’t looking forward to spending that same amount of time with lesson preparation again.

After some searching, we were thrilled when we discovered that Bob Jones University Press offers a curriculum specifically for 3-years-olds. It’s called Threshold for Threes. Eager to give it a try, we ordered the Teacher’s Resource file, the Activity Packet, the Thresholds Visual Packet and all of the other materials that were available for that age. When the materials arrived, I opened up the Teacher’s Resource file and was SHOCKED! The file contained a bunch of individual activity cards for various themes in no particular order.

The curriculum does come with an Introduction Booklet which does contain quite a bit of useful information – but there was no daily schedule for how I should put the cards together into cohesive lessons.

For seasoned teachers who are using this curriculum, that is probably not an issue. For me, a fairly new homeschooling mom, I was completely confused! I spent weeks pouring over the themes and the different cards before I was finally able to put them together into an organized plan for the year.

The detailed schedule I created will save you weeks of planning and organizing. Simply look at the schedule for each week, pull the cards you will need for each specific day, and prepare your lesson. I have organized the lessons into 4-day weeks which will span 48 weeks.
